Shar Instrument Trade-In Policy
Shar is devoted to your musical development from your first beginning instrument to the eventual instrument of your dreams. We know how important your equipment is in producing the best sound possible. As you grow musically, you will undoubtedly need an instrument that can grow with you. We encourage you to take advantage of our Trade-In Program. Whether it is from a 1/4 size to a 1/2 size or from an advanced instrument to a professional instrument, we offer you a generous trade-in credit for your current instrument:

50%

 credit of the original purchase for Hoffmann instruments and outfits.

100%

 credit of the original purchase price for better quality instruments (Carlo Lamberti, Otto Ernst Fischer, Karl Joseph Schneider, John Cheng Workshop, Collector's Series, and those from our Fine Instrument Collection).
There will be NO refurbishment fee deducted for normal wear and tear. A depreciation fee will only be deducted if the instrument has had serious damage (cracks, etc.).
You may trade-in your instrument if:
  • You purchased the original instrument directly from Shar
  • You purchase an instrument of equal or greater value than the original purchase price of the trade-in instrument
  • Only one instrument can be traded toward the purchase of another instrument
  • You may only trade the same type of instrument for the same type of instrument (a violin towards a violin, or a viola towards a viola, etc.)
  • Electric instruments are not eligible for trade-ins
  • Only the instrument may be traded-in, not cases or bows, with the exception of Hoffmann outfits
Do we accept trade-in instruments from other companies?
Whenever possible, yes, we will try to accommodate customers with trade-ins from other companies. Although our trade-in policy in the past has been limited to only accepting SHAR instruments for credit, we have heard from many customers frustrated with the poor setup and limited tone of their current instrument purchased from other shops. If you would like to trade-in an instrument you purchased elsewhere towards a SHAR instrument, please call our Violin Shop Staff at 866.742.7270. Please note that each situation is unique and we are not able to accept all trade-ins. However, the SHAR Violin Shop Staff promises to do their best to present a trade-in option towards a SHAR instrument.
